United States: Hiking the Hidden Grand
Canyon,
7 Days

Words cannot truly describe the immensity and beauty
of the Grand Canyon- a mile deep, six miles wide and
287 miles long. Distance is deceptive and the scale
unimaginable. The best way to experience the splendor
of the Grand Canyon is on foot and the itinerary
is designed to show you the best that the Canyon has
to offer both above the Rim as well as its hidden
secrets.
Itinerary in Brief
DAY 1: Meet in Phoenix from dinner with your
guide and other guests and discuss your plans for
tomorrow. Overnight Phoenix.
DAY 2: Travel to Mather Point in Grand Canyon
National Park, stopping for a hike in Sedona’s magical
red rock country on the way. Overnight Mather Point
Campground, Grand Canyon.
DAY 3: From the Canyon’s South Rim, follow
in the footsteps of early explorers and hike the
Bright Angel Trail with its stunning panoramic views.
Options to hike vary between 3-12 miles. Overnight
Mather Point Campground.
DAY 4: From Hualapai Hilltop, hike 10 miles
down to our permanent camp on the banks of Havasu
Creek. Pack mules carry all the gear so you hike
with only your daypack. Stop for a short rest in
the village of Supai (the most remote village in
the U.S. where mail still arrives by mule train).
After arriving in camp, take well-deserved advantage
of the cool turquoise water to refresh yourself
before dinner. Overnight private camp.
DAY 5-6: Spend the next 2 days exploring Havasu
and Carbonate Canyons or relaxing under the Cottonwood
trees at camp (or both). Hike to the base of 210ft.
Mooney Falls and swim in its sparkling waters. Swim
to the hidden “green room” of Beaver
Falls and jump to the frothy pool below. Hike up
the canyon to Tonto Bench with its stunning views
all the way to the North Rim. Visit an old miners
cave and search for marine fossils. Overnight private
camp.
DAY 7: Hike back to the canyon rim (or optional
helicopter flight or horseback ride). Return drive
back to Phoenix stopping for dinner on the way.
