BELIZE: SUN DANCER II, 7 NIGHTS

Just off the coast of Belize is the second largest barrier reef in the world, home to an amazing variety underwater terrain and sea life.  The reefs are pristine, the atolls paradise, and the walls and drop-offs are spectacular. Dives range from shallow gardens of coral, multi level wall dives speckled with vibrant sponges and exciting drift dives.  The warm, clear waters (visibility can reach 120ft. or more) of Belize make this trip suitable for both the novice and adventurous diver alike. Highlights include; Turneffe Islands, Glover’s Reef, Half Moon Cay and Lighthouse Reef home to the famous ‘Blue Hole’ The Sun Dancer II features all the Dancer Fleet amenities divers have come to expect including Nitrox fills (additional fee), private en-suite facilities, spacious lounge areas, fine dining and more.

Itinerary

Saturday: Upon arrival at Belize City International Airport Saturday afternoon, you will then be transferred to the M/V Sun Dancer II. Boarding begins at 4:00 pm.  and the boat will usually leave from the dock at approximately 5:00 pm to moor at Turneffe Island or Lighthouse Reef. Dinner is provided onboard at approx. 6:30 pm. After dinner an orientation slide show is presented and guests may retire at their leisure.

Sunday to Thursday: Guests may do up to five dives per day between the first morning dive and when the dive deck closes after the night dive. A dive bell is rung to signal the start of a dive briefing on the Main Deck. Two morning dives are typically conducted at the first location of the day, after which the vessel is moved to a second location for two afternoon dives and the night dive. Slide presentations are scheduled in the evenings throughout the charter. Time and weather permitting, we stop to explore the nature preserve at Half Moon Cay home to the Red Footed Booby.

Dives sites usually include

The Elbow-Located on Turneffe Reef is one of Belize’s most exciting and fish filled dive experiences. On these multi-level drift dives enormous schools of jacks and other large fish are often sighted in the blue water.

The Sayonara-A small wreck excellent for seeing a variety of marine life including the rare Lined Toadfish found only in Belize.

Aquarium-A site teeming with a wide variety of sea life including large Black Grouper, Green Morays, Octopus and Parrotfish.

The Blue Hole- Possibly the most famous dive site in Belize. At over 1,000 ft. in diameter and 400ft. deep, divers are surrounded by huge stalactites formed thousands of years ago.

Half Moon Cay Wall- Hawksbill Turtles and Spotted Rays are regular sights amongst the beautiful coral ridges, sponges, walls and swim thoughts of this site.

Friday: One early morning dive (starting at 6:00 am) is scheduled before returning to port in the afternoon (usually between noon and 2:00 pm). Breakfast and lunch are provided on board. Arrangements can be made from the vessel if guests wish to schedule a half-day inland tour after returning to port. An informal dinner is prepared on board at approx. 6:00 pm or guests may elect to visit one of Belize City’s local restaurants on their own.

Saturday: Continental breakfast is available at 7:00 am. Disembarkation is at 8:00 am for all guests. Transfers to the airport are provided. Guests who are scheduled on a later flight may enjoy spending a few hours in town before returning to the airport.
